For an historical overview of the ancient art of wrought iron you can refer to the many books published on this subject. Here are some ideas that we want to share with you:

• During the last centuries many master blacksmiths, barely appreciated and often unknown, had made unique masterpieces.

In every period of man’s history wrought iron has been part and parcel of architecture, becoming in a few cases the very distinguishing element of a particular style (es. Liberty style).

• Nowadays we must observe that modern architecture lacks of a careful planning in wrought iron elements. When it’s time to think about ironworks for a house it often happens that architects and designers leave the matter completely up to us. We must observe, too, a massive use of iron decorations and manufactured pieces, often reproducing obsolete or inappropriate styles, with the result of levelling the tastes and wiping out the authentic and original styles of the various Italian Regions.

• Even though we consider of primary importance the riproposition of classic wrought iron styles, at the same time we think it’s fundamental an in-depth research and experimentation within the possibilities of expression of iron working. We think that both wrought iron and “cold worked” iron can’t be secluded from the present time, with its own inclinations and innovations, its social and aesthetic challenges.
